Florida Paints partnered with the Habitat Lake-Sumter’s Preservation and Repair program through community events, “Spruce up the Block” parties.

Habitat Lake-Sumter’s Preservation and Repair program works to preserve the existing affordable housing stock, improve the safety and accessibility of the homes through exterior repairs, and revitalize low-income neighborhoods and community spaces.

With the joint effort of Florida Paints, Habitat Lake-Sumter, community leaders, and volunteers “Paint a Brighter Day” brings support to families and communities across Lake County.

Lacie Himes. the Development Director of Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter shares, “Florida Paints sponsored our “Spruce up the Block” initiatives over the course of 4 weeks. Their sponsorship allows Habitat Lake-Sumter to revitalize homes and community spaces by painting, landscaping, and community clean-up. The projects were successfully completed by students from Maritime Massachusetts Academy who volunteer annually with Habitat Lake-Sumter. 85 volunteers took part in the projects and volunteered roughly 4,500 hours over the course of 4 weeks. The core of the students’ studies is focused on emergency management services and during their time here, had the opportunity to visit with our local police and fire departments for additional training and demonstrations”.
