The Clermont Police Department hosted a sunset run on Saturday, March 5. The 5K started and finished at Suncreek Brewery in downtown Clermont.

The Fallen Heroes 5K, formerly known as the Conrad Buckley Legacy Scholarship 5k, honored nearly 500 law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in 2021.  The event raised more than $9,000, with all race proceeds and donations going to the Conrad Buckley Legacy Scholarship Fund (Fallen Clermont Police Officer) and Team Blueline, which is a nonprofit 501c3 that assists the families of officers that have been catastrophically injured or killed in the line of duty.

Clermont Police Chief Charles Broadway acknowledged those participating in the event by stating, “On behalf of the entire Clermont Police Department, I’d like to thank all those that are coming out and showing their support. This race is to Honor the Fallen and raise money for the Conrad Buckley Scholarship Fund which we hold near and dear to our hearts. We appreciate and are thankful for the support from the community we serve.” He added, “This event is one of many ways how our community consistently partners up with law enforcement and other groups to give back for the betterment of others.  So thankful to Kiwanis Club of South Lake for raising funds for the Conrad Buckley sponsorship and to helping families who lost Officers who died in the line of duty. I am so honored to serve a  community who cares so much for others and supports those who protect them.”
