South Lake Art League President Lisa Harris and Show Director Kathy Henderson opened their newest Spring 2022 Member Art Show. This new show will be on display through May 15. Harris says, “The community is invited to stop by to see the show and vote on their favorite artwork, as well as the other current exhibits of members. People’s Choice Honors will be awarded at the end of this exhibition. Support our local artists as we have 49 new pieces of art for you to view.”
There are four separately themed topics:
Acrylic & Oil – First Place: Kathy Henderson for ‘Lilly’. Second Place: Hope Barton for ‘’Little Gem’. Third Place: Pam Hirsch for ‘Queen Mabs Hills’.
The Watercolor & Water Base Pem & Ink – First Place: Beth Krelitz for ‘Brynn & Mom’. Second Place to Bolivar Ventura for ‘Stephen Hawking’ and Third Place to Marie Dudek Brown for ‘Sweet Birdsong’.
Mixed Media, Collage & Zentangle – First Place went to Linda Hansee for ‘Emerald Sea’, Second Place to Althea Marcano for ‘Morning Melody’ and Third Place to Linda Hansee for ‘Black Rose’.
Pastel, Colored Pencil, Pen & Ink & Pencil – First Place: Carol Kilkeary for ‘Alone Together’. Second Place: Althea Marcano for ‘Spring Has Sprung’. Third Place – Carol Kilkeary for ‘Craft Show Shoppers’.
Best of Show: Carol Kilkeary for ‘Alone Together’.
All local artists can join the South Lake Art League. Clermont SLAL Gallery offers two-member art shows in the spring and fall as well as two-member fine art photography shows per year. Member’s websites are linked to the SLAL website and members receive discounted fees on special workshops and classes. The SLAL Photography Club offers valuable photo instructional meetings.
The South Lake Art League promotes all forms of art. Harris notes, “The SLAL works to bring people interested in the arts together. It provides opportunities to participate in classes, workshops and shows. We offer art classes in acrylics, colored pencils, drawing, mixed media, oils, pastels, fine art photography, Zentangle and watercolor with other art related events”.
South Lake Art League Fine Art and Photography Shows are held in the spring and fall. Children’s Art Classes are held every Tuesday from 4:30 to 6 PM. Ages 8 and up.
