National Senior Games Presented by Humana

The 2022 National Senior Games, presented by Humana, will be held in the Greater Fort Lauderdale Area, with over 11,000 athletes registered to compete.  Among those athletes, there is a total of 1,656 Florida Senior Games athletes competing in the 21 sports offered. South Lake will be represented by 11 athletes.

The Games begin on Tuesday, May 10 and conclude on Monday, May 23, with a Celebration of Athletes to be held on Monday, May 16.  The 2022 National Senior Games were originally scheduled for 2021, but were postponed until May, 2022, due to Covid-19 precautions in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area.

Former WESH Sports Director and now President of Growing Bolder, Marc Middleton, of Altamonte Springs, will be swimming in four events as well as running in two track and field events and participating in the Long Jump. Middleton and the Growing Bolder production staff will also be producing daily video highlights during the duration of the Games.

Carol Robertson, of Melbourne, will be competing in two races of the track and field events in the 65-69 age group. In 2018, Robertson had full craniotomy brain surgery to remove a tumor and one year later Gamma Knight Radiation to the brain.  She won a gold medal in the 50 and 100-meter dashes at the 2021 Florida Senior Games in the 60-64 age group.

  • Bob Heacock, Swimming – 70-74, Clermont
  • Itiro Takahashi, Table Tennis – 75-79, Clermont
  • Jane Pang, Table Tennis – 75-79, Clermont
  • Guy Dirkin, Track & Field – 70-74, Clermont
  • David Tisdale, Triathlon – 50-54, Clermont
  • Timothy Roe, Triathlon – 55-59, Groveland

Since 2001, Over 7,000 Florida athletes have registered to compete in the National Senior Games.
