Below are highlights of the Clermont City Council meeting on June 14. 

Performance Review of City Manager Brian Bulthuis

Brian Bulthuis, Clermont City Manager, received his 6-month initial evaluation by the Clermont City Council members during the city council meeting on June 14.  Council gave Bulthuis a satisfactory evaluation which will increase his yearly salary to $180,000.

Cityside Townhomes

Council considered the approval of 68 single-family townhomes on 8.05 +/- acre property, located northwest of US 27 and SR 50 intersection, directly north of the Crown Lounge and south of Highland Avenue. A portion of the site was previously used for a motel site, Clermont Motor Lodge, that was demolished in 2013. The property has been vacant since that time.

After discussion, the requestor asked that the discussion be continued at the July 12th meeting so suggestions by council can be considered and feasibility discussed before the meeting.  Table until July 12.

Clermont Yacht Club

Tabled until July 12ths council Meeting – The request to allow third phase construction of 108 condominium units at the Clermont Yacht Club.  The Yacht Club is a neighborhood of townhomes situated along the shore of Lake Minneola. 

CRA Board Appointments

There were two vacancies on the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board for the unexpired term which is up for re-appointment on December 31, 2024. Notice was advertised on April 29 and May 13, 2022 requesting board applications to be submitted to the Clerk’s office with the deadline date for applications on May 27, 2022. After review of those who applied, 2 applicants met the qualifications to serve: Jimmy Crawford and Beth Merrick.
