The Co-Sponsor of the South Lake Chamber of Commerce breakfast was Patricia Kry from The Neighborhood Center of South Lake. 

Kry described the Community Food Pantry’s services and assistance in South Lake, and its mission to develop, empower, and educate neighbors with food insecurity. 

The center was founded in 1972 dedicated to providing services for neighbors needing assistance in South Lake County.  The Center serves Mascotte, Groveland, Clermont, Minneola, Montverde, Howey In The Hills, Four Corners and areas in between.  

The Neighborhood Center of South Lake operates as a food pantry and social service center.  Its services include:

Food, social services, SNAP application assistance, Medicaid and other application assistance, nutrition education, referral to local support groups, and access to job opportunities and life-skills training.  

All services are provided free of charge. Monetary and food donations are always welcome.  

The Center assists approximately 1,600 families monthly; approximately 6,000 individuals monthly; more than 55,000 individuals annually; and more than 1/2 are children.

In 2021, the Center served 11,528 families, 59,892 clients and gave 1,576,319 pounds of food to the needy.

Support comes from foundations, businesses, service clubs, church organizations, neighborhoods and individuals.  The Center seeks support from the entire community.
