While he and his wife Jennifer were in UAE, they were blessed with two sons – Jasen and Jackson. After returning to the United States, Zachary worked for ATP Flight School in Jacksonville, Florida.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer Trew and their twin sons Jasen Mead and Jackson Lee; his parents Bill and Susan Trew of Winter Garden; brother Michael and his wife Janice Trew of Winter Garden; godsister Sheryl Bragaw of Wilmington, Delaware and five nieces.
