Come to the Clermont Historic Village, 490 West Avenue, this coming Saturday, August 6thfrom 1:00 to 3:00 PM to join the young and the young at heart for the third annual People’s Choice Dessert and Summer Drinks Challenge.  Just ask anyone who has been in the past and they will tell you how much fun it is sampling all the delicious desserts and drinks.  And then you get to vote for your favorite and stick around to see if they won!

The first and second place winners in both categories will be returning this year as well as many other delicious offerings.  You will get to sample desserts from Cookie Queen, Miss Bittersweet, Ritter’s, Sugar House Bake Shop, Sweet Creations by Karla, and Violeta’s Under the Sweets.  For Summer Drinks there will be Blender Boyz, Golden Hills Coffee, Grunly’s, and Just Love Coffee.

While you are at the Historic Village for this free, family-friendly event why not take some time to tour the varied and interesting buildings there.  You can walk on the floorboards that were installed in our first library in 1914, see items brought back from Europe and the Pacific by returning World War II soldiers, and have a moment of quiet contemplation in our newly built replica of an early church from the area.

The Village is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and has seven buildings to tour.  A donation of $5.00 is requested for every person over 12 when touring the buildings.

If you are interested in the history of Clermont or history in general, why not consider joining the Historical Society?  Membership is only $25 annually for an individual and $35 for a couple.  Our monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month in the Train Depot at the Historic Village.  The board meeting (open to the public) is at 6:00 PM.  Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 8th.
