Deputy Huff was introduced by Clinton Pownall who recognized her work in the community:

Deputy Huff has provided exceptional service to the community for many years. She does not shy away from strenuous tasks but instead embraces the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of middle and high-school-grade juveniles.

Huff has worked with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for seven years; she began her career in the Communications Center and later transferred to Road Patrol upon completion of the Academy. In October 2021, her passion for troubled youth led her to join the School Resource Unit; she later requested to enter Lake Academy Mascotte also known as Therapeutic Academy.

Deputy Huff immediately sought opportunities and resources essential for her students and families. Her journey led to her successfully discovering resources that would donate hygiene products, clothes, and dried foods to these families. This program would eventually be called the “Hygiene Pantry.”

The Hygiene Pantry provides an outlet for children who struggle with embarrassment and low self-esteem. During Christmas break, this program received an overwhelming amount of donations where they sent food and Christmas gifts home with every student.

Having dealt with various difficulties during her youth, some inflicted and some by grand design, Deputy Huff connects with her students in ways most cannot. She displays empathy to her students, provides steps to improve and grow, and delivers stern corrections when needed.

Deputy Huff is highly dedicated to her students and continuously reminds them of their bright future. She recently blended the Therapy Dog Program with her students to facilitate ways they can manage their emotions while navigating life during moments of crisis. She has advanced this program and changed the lives of these children forever.

After being recognized for her work in the community, Deputy Sheriff Tabbitha Huff, was presented with the SLCC Public Service Award.
