Orlando Health ranked 13th in Forbes fourth annual list of America’s Best Employers By State. The list ranks 100 Florida businesses and organizations based on surveys submitted by employees. Recently named a 2022 Best Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare, Orlando Health is no stranger to being recognized for demonstrating its commitment to its workforce. 

We are extremely pleased to be recognized in this year’s Forbes America’s Best Employer By State,” said Karen Frenier, senior vice president, Orlando Health human resources and chief nurse executive. “Knowing the responses from our team members contributed to this ranking speaks to the success of the entire organization being a best place to work and one of the best healthcare employers in the state of Florida.   

The widespread increase of fully remote work and other pandemic-driven adjustments have changed the priorities of employees and their employers. Now, more than ever, businesses and organizations are challenged to assess how they holistically support their workforce in meaningful ways. 

Forbes America’s Best Employer By State was produced in partnership with Statista, a market research company. The list was compiled by surveying 70,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees. Rankings were divided into 51 ranks – one for each state and one for the District of Columbia – and lists the 1,382 employers with at least 500 employees that received the most employee recommendations. All surveys were anonymous, which allowed participants to freely share their opinions and responses. Employers were rated on various criteria, including competitiveness of compensation, opportunities for advancement, and openness to telecommuting.

Orlando Health implemented numerous tools and resources to boost morale and help prevent burnout at the onset of the pandemic.During the height of the pandemic, Orlando Health gifted all full-time employees 40 extra hours of paid time off that could be used for any reason. In the last year, the hospital system also expanded its popular freeeducation benefit, a program allowing team members to pursue any associate degree, bachelor’s degree or certificate without incurring any out-of-pocket cost. Today,Orlando Health’s Preferred Education Program is available on 26 campuses in six Florida counties and through virtual learning, where available.  

The number of businesses ranked in each state was based on two factors – the number of qualifying businesses in the state and the size of the state’s workforce. Employers with operations in more than one state were eligible to be listed multiple times.
