MASCOTTE – On September 8, at 7:35 am, Mascotte Police Officers responded to a complaint in the area of Ridgemoor Drive and American Legion Road in Mascotte due to a suspicious vehicle attempting to lure children into his vehicle.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a newer silver Toyota Corolla. The suspect was described as an older Hispanic male, balding or short hair, with no apparent facial hair but he did have some stubble. He spoke to the children in Spanish and asked them to come to his vehicle. When the children refused, the suspect circled around and again told them to get in his vehicle. The children ran to their home and the vehicle left.

It is unknown what direction the vehicle left. A canvass of the immediate area was conducted and a video was obtained of the possible suspect vehicle driving on Ridgemoor away from the incident location.  The vehicle appears to be a 2021 Toyota Corolla with extremely dark tinted windows however, no license plate was visible. The surrounding agencies and schools were notified and a bulletin was sent out to various Law Enforcement Agencies with a picture of the possible vehicle.

Officers will be conducting extra patrols every morning and afternoon. Parents are urged to be extra vigilant and report anything suspicious to the Mascotte Police Department.
