On Tuesday, October 4, thousands of people attended the community’s Annual National Night Out at Waterfront Park. The national event was first introduced in 1984 and now includes more than 400 communities in 23 states. Each year, the free, family event continues to grow across the nation.

“National Night Out remains a great opportunity for police officers to meet and visit with our neighbors in a fun setting – and not wait for a crisis. The best way to strengthen the safety of your community is to know your neighbors”, said Clermont Police Chief Charles Broadway.

Clermont Police had their JR. SWAT Challenge Course, ready for children to run a junior-sized obstacle course complete with monkey bars, balance beams, and a low-crawl course. Kids also participated in a tug-of-war with police officers!

Clermont Police Department and Clermont Fire Department hosted other local law enforcement agencies including:

  •       Florida Department of Law Enforcement
  •       Lake County Sheriff’s Office
  •       Mount Dora Police Department
  •       Groveland Police Department
  •       Eustis Police Department
  •       Howie-in-the-Hills Police Department
  •       Fruitland Park Police Department
  •       Lake Correctional Institute and
  •       The United States Marine Corps

This is a great event for the entire community.
