Submited by DeAnna Thomas, Executive Director of Lake Technical College, has been elected to a three-year term on board of the Council on Occupational Education (COE). This 19-member board is the governing and decision-making body for all of the agency’s accreditation actions.
COE is the national accrediting agency for occupational higher education institutions. It came into existence in 1971 and serves over 500 institutions across the United States and abroad. COE is recognized by the US. Department of Education as a reliable authority on the quality of education offered by institutions and ensures integrity in career and technical education.
Thomas says she looks forward to incorporating her school-based experiences as well as industry experience so as to represent the significant values and purposes to which COE is dedicated. She will continue to work to enhance the public’s understanding of career and technical education providers and their value to the growth and development of the economy. Thomas’ skill at developing linkages and partnerships will serve COE well as she assists in the evaluation of policy-making affecting all the institutions involved.
