The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is planning improvements along U.S. 27 from north of Lake Louisa Road to north of Cluster Oak Drive in Clermont.

The purpose of this project is to repave this segment of U.S. 27 to extend the life of the existing roadway and provide safety and operational enhancements for drivers and pedestrians. More details about the planned improvements are provided in the attached project information handout. Information is also available on the project website at www.cflroads.com/project/447098-1.

To enhance bicycle safety, the travel lanes will be restriped to create 7-foot-wide buffered bicycle lanes on each side of the road. Pedestrian enhancements include upgrading pedestrian curb ramps to current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and constructing sidewalks along the southwest corner of Brogden Drive.  This project will also require minor drainage and signal improvements to satisfy the needs of the project.

Design of the proposed improvements is anticipated to finish in early 2023. Construction is anticipated to start in late 2023.  South Lake County district 1 transportation impact fees will a funding source for the project.  Design costs are expected to be $1 million and construction costs $11.6 million for 3.77 miles of repaving.
