William Norval Brown died peacefully on January 15, 2023 at the age of 97. Norval was born May 11, 1925 in Fountain City, Indiana. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and spent over 40 years in public education as a teacher, coach, principal, and Lake County schools district office administrator.

Norval was very athletic, playing basketball and softball until the age of 86. His senior teams won multiple national championships in both sports.

He served as president of the Clermont Lions Club for years. He was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church.

Norval was a man of great integrity and always held himself to the highest moral standards. He provided loving care to his wife, Betty Brown, who suffered a 10-year debilitating illness. In 2009, he married Lida Rose Dixon and was blessed to have 10 years of happiness until her passing in 2019.

Norval was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Brown.

Norval is survived by his son Terry Brown (Diana B); his daughter Cynthia Brown, daughter-in-law Diana H Brown; four grandsons and two great-granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Cornerstone Mike Conley House would be appreciated.

Norval will be interred in Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis, FL with private services for the family.  There will be a Celebration of Norval’s life for the public scheduled at a later date.
