Since 2013, Orlando Health Network has generated nearly $160 million in savings for the federal government’s Medicare Shared Savings Program, commercial insurers, self-funded employers, and patients, according to the Clinically Integrated Network Value Report 2022.

The 2022 report, released this month, details how the network, part of the Orlando Health hospital system, also launched multiple initiatives during 2021 to enhance the quality of patient care with more than 5,700 multispecialty providers within inpatient and outpatient care facilities.

“This publication is our health system’s opportunity to annually highlight incredible quality outcomes, inspiring clinical stories, and impressive financial performance from the year prior,” said Erik Walker, MD, board chairman, Orlando Health Network. “As you will read, for the ninth year in a row, we achieved fantastic results through our collaboration with our robust provider network and payer and employer partnerships.”

During the 2021 performance period, the network saved more than $5 million by meeting quality and cost goals for its aligned payer partners, despite the challenging headwinds brought on amid the pandemic, including increased medical complexity, deferral of preventative and interventional care plus an overall ballooning of cost across the industry.

Network-aligned providers ensured patients received timely medical care, avoided unnecessary duplication of services and prevented medical errors. Those efforts reduced patients’ out-of-pocket costs and saved taxpayer funds.

The network also improved its care coordination model by using state-of-the-art technology to automate patient screenings and case assignments, which enables providers to engage with patients more productively.

Since its launch, Orlando Health Network expanded its partnerships with commercial payers including Aetna, Cigna, Florida Blue and United Healthcare. The network cares for nearly 300,000 patients across Central Florida, which covers roughly one in eight Greater Orlando residents.
