Clermont’s first responders are trading in patrol ears and fire trucks for bats and gloves Saturday when the two departments face off in a charity softball game.

The departments are teaming up with the Kiwanis Club of South Lake and the Fabulous Flockers to raise money for the purchase and installation of the area’s first inclusive playground at Lake Felter Park.

This special kind of playground provides equipment that allows children with various disabilities to join the fun and play with friends or family. Traditional playgrounds are not always welcoming to children with mobility challenges or those with sensory disorders. Saturday’s ball game is one of several fun events for the community to support and help raise the needed funds.

The event begins at 11 a.m. at Lake Felter Park, 1750 John’s Lake Road. The community is invited to bring a chair or a blanket and come out to be part of all the fun as the red
takes on the blue. There will be food and fun and all donations will go toward the playground project. For more information on Saturday’s ball game or for more detail on the playground and how you can donate, visit KCOSL.org or Kiwanis of South Lake on social media.
