Judith Swearingin – Hovis, 82, passed away March 10, 2023, in her home in Clermont. She was born May 14, 1940, in Cowan, Tennessee, daughter of the late Harley “Jack” Swearingin and Christine Temple Swearingin. Judith moved to Clermont, Florida in 1945. She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church of Clermont. Judith graduated from Clermont High School and earned her associate’s degree in nursing from Valencia Community College. Judith worked at South Lake Memorial Hospital, followed by a private practice and later for Hospice.

Judith’s death was preceded by her parents, son, Lawson L. Wolfe II and two brothers, Bobby and Roger Swearingin. Judith is survived by her husband, George Hovis, Clermont; daughter Denise Wolfe Wallace and husband David Wallace, Clermont, daughter-in-law, Kim Wolfe, Groveland, brothers Butch Swearingin and wife Sharon, Clermont, Van Swearingin and wife Diane, Marietta, Georgia, and Sister Kate Kindig and husband Chuck, Clermont; grandchildren Benjamin, Jessica, Samantha, Joshua Wolfe, Joshua Wallace, and Natalie; great-grandchildren Kennedy, Lawson, Carter, Greyson, Jagger and Remi; and step-daughters Sherri Webster, Eustis and Francis Merritt and husband Jason, Tallahassee.

Viewing will be from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm and funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on March 17, 2023, both at the First United Methodist Church in Clermont. Reverend Doug Kokx will officiate. Interment will follow for family at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
