The City of Clermont hosted the 3rd Annual Pups in the Park at Lake Hiawatha Preserve on Saturday the 18th. This wonderful tradition grows in size each year and from the appearance of the large crowd, the community seems to love the tradition as well.

Pups of all sizes, shapes and breeds were greeted by a host of vendors and displays that were fit for a furry king or queen. Visitors received toys and games from the City of Clermont which included a fun obstacle course and tennis balls commemorating the event. The Clermont Police Department was on hand to provide a pup-a-cino with an officer opportunity. Furry friends kept the officers busy with refills and cuddles as handlers inquired about various community topics. The Clermont Fire Department also joined the pawsome event. Sparky, the fire prevention and safety dalmatian was on-hand to make sure that none of his friends barked up the wrong tree.

The annual costume contest brought out the best in handler imagination and creativity as the pups, big and small, strutted their stuff down the grassy runway to a panel of judges composed of representatives from the Clermont Fire Department, Pat the Dog and the South Lake Tablet. All of the pooches were winners in the judge’s eyes but three stood out in categories that included most creative, best dressed and most original.

Lots of dogs attended and many brought their humans
