Cooper Memorial Library

The Cooper Memorial Library will host several programs in May including a Mary Lincoln historical performance, two Cooper Concert Series events, and the Friends of the Library Opera Club.

On Thursday, May 4, at 5:30 p.m., first-person historical presenter and lecturer Valerie Gugala brings Mary Lincoln to life in this historical performance. Having researched Abraham and Mary Lincoln since childhood, she has been performing as and speaking about Mrs. Lincoln for more than 25 years.

The Library will host two concerts in May as part of the Cooper Concert Series. First, on Wednesday, May 10, at 5 p.m., local singer-songwriter Christina Vukel will perform live music, including renditions of popular music, as well as original songs from her album “They Say”. Her soothing voice and soulful delivery have made her concerts a must-see.

Then, on Wednesday, May 17, at 4 p.m., Jubilant Strings will perform a concert of patriotic and classical selections, fiddle tunes, and mariachi music. Jubilant Strings is an orchestra ensemble of local middle and high school students directed by Kathryn Rodgers.

The Friends of the Library Opera Club will present Seven Brides for Seven Brothers on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 1:45 p.m. in Room 108. Attendees will watch and discuss the opera as part of this ongoing educational series.

All events are free and generously sponsored by the Friends of the Cooper Memorial Library. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
