Polka Dogz Pet Rescue has been selected as a beneficiary of the Winn-Dixie Community Bag Program for the month of May, 2023. Launched in February 2019, the Winn-Dixie Community Bag Program is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.

To coincide with National Pet Month, store leadership at the Winn-Dixie located at 684 East Highway 50 in Clermont, FL selected Polka Dogz Pet Rescue as the beneficiary of their popular community program.  Polka Dogz will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.99 reusable Community Bag is purchased at this location during the month of May.  Shoppers outside of Clermont can show their support too: simply purchase a Community Bag at any Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Mas, or Harvey’s location and use the attached Giving Tag to direct the donation to Polka Dogz.

“We are so thankful for the opportunity this program affords our organization, bringing much needed funding during an unusually busy rescue season,” says Heidi Hardman, President and Co-Founder of Polka Dogz Pet Rescue.  “We have taken in nineteen dogs from hoarding situations in the past several months, most of which are seniors with major medical needs arising from severe neglect, and the rescue is bursting at the seams with sweet dogs that are desperately seeking their forever homes,” according to Ms. Hardman.  “Thanks to Winn-Dixie and their amazing Community Bag Program, we can spread the word about our work to rescue abandoned, abused, injured, and neglected dogs – especially seniors, special needs, and super shy dogs because they are the ones that most often fall through the cracks – and give our friends and neighbors an easy way to contribute, right where they shop.”

Polka Dogz Pet Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs while educating the community on responsible pet ownership. To learn more about Polka Dogz Pet Rescue and to get involved, visit www.polkadogz.org.
