Celebrity Servings: Besides primarily welcoming local area residents and tourists, Kadam and his restaurant teams have served many celebrities, professional athletes, musicians, politicians and plenty of Bollywood stars over the years. This list includes Shaquille ‘Shaq’ O’Neil, Dick Gregory, The Beach Boys as well as most local dignitaries. Kadam adds, “Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz, the King of Malaysia was my favorite regular guest for many years at my I-Drive Restaurant.
Master Chef! Uday Kadam is proudly from a small village 300 miles south of Mumbai, India. His father was Kadam’s first ‘Guru’ mentor and a respected teacher. While attending college in Bombay, Kadam worked at the famous Taj Mahal Hotel Restaurant. He studied under the talents of many internationally respected guru chefs who inspired him in what would become his life’s most desired profession. Kadam stepped up his professional career as a Manager for Marriott Hotels in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt before coming to work in the United States in 1982. He was the Food & Beverage Manager at the Disney Polynesian. Kadam shares, “The word Guru means ‘Master’ and ‘A Sharing Teacher.’ I was fortunate to be able to learn from the best of the best world-respected chefs at Marriott and Disney!” Kadam now has over 42 years of successful experience in the restaurant and hospitality business here in the Orlando area and keeps going strong, keeping his restaurant open 7 days a week and for most holidays.
After doing his own research, Master Chef Uday Kadam felt that Clermont was the absolute best community in Central Florida to open an Indian restaurant with fine dining options. Founded in 2014 by Uday Kadam here in Clermont, he launched his Guru Indian Restaurant to bring us a top-quality Indian food emporium. Kadam offers a simple and very authentic gourmet-style restaurant, specializing in Northern Indian foods.
Guru Indian Entrees: Each dish is custom created and freshly made for each client to be served with the best ingredients, sauces and spices. Guru offers you a very diverse menu with dozens of delicious entrée options. Each dish is spiced to match your desires from mild to medium to hot. Kadam notes, “Two of the most popular dishes remain Butter Chicken and Chicken Masala. Butter Chicken is offered with boneless pieces of fresh white chicken breast tikka, cooked in a special butter sauce and served in a creamy tomato base over Basmati rice. Their Chicken Tikka Masala is marinated with fresh yogurt, creams and spices for 24 hours. Chicken Masala is cooked fresh for each diner and served with bite-sized boneless chicken breast pieces after being cooked in the Tandoor clay oven with a light tomato sauce, onions, aromatic herbs and spices.”
Each Guru dining experience is started with a complimentary welcome dish of Pappadam chips, served with savory onion and sweet mango chutney as a welcoming gift. Their tasty appetizers as well as their cooked chicken, beef, lamb, seafood, vegetable and Biryani dishes are always cooked to perfection. To enhance any meal; beers, wines and Indian Chai Tea beverages are available.
Diversity For Every Taste! Guru offers a diverse menu of premium-quality beef, lamb, seafood, poultry and vegan entrees. Their Biryani specialties are made with tender meat and basmati rice combinations in the Hyderabadi style. All ten varieties of naan breads are cooked fresh and warm for each serving in their special clay ovens. They offer Sweet Mango Chutney, Raita and Pappdam. Guru offers Gulab Jamun and Ras Malai as well as homemade mango and pistachio-flavored ice creams for refreshing desserts. They offer a special Children’s Menu with simple chicken fingers and Indian-style pizzas. Guru serves very generous portions of the finest quality foods available, with some savory extras going home for a second meal.
