From June 11-14, Michael Damon, Montverde Academy’s Sports Information Manager, attended the College Sports Communicators (CSC) annual workshop in Orlando at the World Center Marriott Resort, participating in various informative panels and discussions to learn the newest trends in Sports Information.

Mr. Damon’s attendance at the workshop marked the first time Montverde Academy was represented at the nationwide convention, and in turn, making MVA one of the first high schools to ever have representation at CSC’s annual workshop putting it on the cutting edge of high school sports information.

“All in all, it was a great conference and I was so proud to represent MVA on the national stage,” Mr. Damon said. “What I found really cool was how well-known Montverde Academy is, not just because of our nationally renowned basketball teams, but because of so many of our student-athletes from all the other sports who graduate and play at the various colleges, too.

“When I mentioned Montverde Academy, I had several of the college sports information directors say, ‘Yeah, one of our players on this team or that team went to MVA,’ so that made me feel so proud.”

During the workshop, he also participated in a 5K run/2-mile walk charity event on the morning of June 12 to help raise funds for Frontline Outreach.

This event was held in conjunction with the workshop and was organized by CSC’s Goodwill and Wellness Committee. Through the help of some of his MVA coworkers, including Mr. David Bernatavitz, Mrs. Marcia Bernatavitz, Mrs. Kim Braden, Mrs. Ginny Holm, Mr. Jeff Osterman, Coach Gerald Phiri, Mrs. Khrystal Phiri, Coach Brooks Sweet, and Coach Chris Williams, Mr. Damon raised $225+.
