Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter alongside The Villages Charter School, Leesburg High School, South Lake High School, and Eustis High School will kick-off construction of five new homes in partnership with Habitat’s Youth Construction Academy.
Key community players and house sponsor, Citizen’s First Bank will kick off The Villages Charter School’s sixth year of the program, followed by house sponsor RoMac Building Supply’s continued partnership with Leesburg. White Aluminum is sponsoring the home build for South Lake High School. Habitat Lake-Sumter will also celebrate Eustis High School’s third and fourth new home builds with tandem sites, sponsored separately by First National Bank of Mount Dora and Carter’s Ace Hardware, being constructed in Tavares as The Cottages at Heritage Grove.
New classes of students will spend time during the school week working side by side with Habitat’s construction staff and professional tradesmen on live construction projects, providing hands-on learning at our dedicated build sites.
Construction will be ongoing during the school year from September through May. In May, the students and teachers will be included in a dedication ceremony where the keys to the house will be handed to a family in need that has completed Habitat’s Home Ownership program. Ultimately, students will graduate the program career-ready and assist in providing five new homeownership opportunities for local families.
