October 2023

Hello Clermont Champions,

I recently had the honor of assisting the Clermont Fire Department in honoring an age-old tradition of celebrating the addition of a brand-new fire truck with a “Push In” ceremony.

First, water from the retiring engine was transferred to the new engine, a 2023 Pierce Enforcer and its tires were carefully washed before it was ceremonially pushed into Fire Station No. 1. The tradition dates back to the 1800s when fire apparatus was powered by horse teams. Since the horses could not back the equipment into the station after a call, they were unhitched and the firefighters would “push” the pumper into the station so it was ready for the next call.

The truck was carefully designed by firefighters who explored the options and selected features that will provide the first-class service our community expects, deserves, and receives from our professional team of highly trained and extremely dedicated first responders.

Fall is finally in the air and holiday events of all kinds are just around the corner. From Harvest Fest in Downtown on Oct. 28 to the Veteran’s Day Celebration on Nov. 11 to the much-anticipated annual “Light Up Clermont” beginning in mid-November, there is surely something for everyone. Check out the full list at www.ClermontFl.gov/254/events for all the details.

A more serious fall event is the 2023 General Election on November 7. Candidates Max Krzyminski and Chandra Myers received the most votes during the primary election for City Council Seat 4 and will be on the ballot. Please exercise your right to vote and cast your ballot.

“Lunch with the Mayor” continues on the first Tuesday of each month at local restaurants beginning at noon. November’s location is Cheeser’s Palace and in December, we will meet at Suncreek Brewery. Hope to see you there.

If you have a question, concern, complaint, or compliment, I encourage you to reach out to the appropriate city department or email me at tmurry@ClermontFl.org to assist you. Our staff has to know about your issue before they can work to resolve it. I also encourage attendance at your City Council meetings held on the second and fourth Tuesday at City Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Thank you for your continued support as we come together to celebrate our accomplishments and continue to improve things here in Clermont.

Until next,

  Mayor Tim Murry
