William Richard McGuire (Bill) was born on April 26, 1947, in Orlando, Florida, (before there was a hospital in Clermont) to John and Rita McGuire. Bill grew up in Clermont, where he lived his entire life.  He graduated from Clermont High School, Class of 1965, where Bill played all four sports (football, basketball, baseball and track). As his children grew up, he coached many of their sports. He was a founding coach of the Clermont Pee Wee football program, and also a softball coach to many.

Bill was a custom homebuilder or in sales most of his adult life and spent many years with Hallmark Cards.  Bill was an astute businessman, with great organizational skills and was always eager to be helpful in his community.  To describe the legacy he leaves behind is a tall task. His beloved town of Clermont will not be the same without him. Bill was one of Clermont’s finest and one of the originals.

Bill will be remembered for always being the life of the party.  His quick wit and unique sense of humor could not be matched. Above all, Bill was a family man. They were always his priority.  His dedication, pride, and love for his family and friends knew no boundaries, he was fiercely loyal to them.  This was evident in his presence at so many of his children’s and grandchildren’s many activities, even going so far as bringing an IV pole to the stands to watch a game years ago.

Bill had a deep love for our country and his cherished Florida Gators! The phrase, “to know him was to love him”, describes Bill. He would bring a smile to your face, just by being in his presence. He was the guy that when you saw him, you knew you were going to laugh, smile, or have a great conversation. You also knew he loved you, if he gave you a special nickname, and he gave many.  He had an extraordinary ability to make a special connection with anyone he met.

Bill is survived by his wife, Rita McGuire of 34 years, daughters Karen Johnson (Darren), Kim Wicker (Rick), Bill McGuire Jr. (Monique), grandchildren Ashley Hall (Dennis), Lindsay Albert (John), Olivia (Damien) and Bayley Johnson, Madilyn and Avery Wicker, Trace and Tegan McGuire, great-grandchildren Brynley and Tripp Hall, Avalon and Elliette Albert, brothers  John (Skip) and Jim McGuire (Johnnie Kay), and sister Mary Jane Cornell, nephews Johnny (Tracy) and Mike McGuire, nieces, Kelly Norris(Ron) and Kathy DeSanto (Mike).
