This month’s Clermont Garden Club Yard-of-the-Month for December takes us to a home at 499 E. Minnehaha Avenue and corner of Disston Avenue. Current homeowner Nefyali Rivera inherited this beautiful garden from the previous homeowners 2 years ago.

During the month of March, a most beautiful display of amaryllis in an array of reds and pinks can be found. The rest of the year there is a splendor of color of plants and trees. On the side of the property, a remarkable specimen of a papaya tree (from the family Caricaceae) grows bearing fruit. Alongside is the bright orange Clerodendrum speciosissimun, a tropical shrub from the family Lamiaceae. At the front of the property, a perfect example of the flowering plant from the Asparagaceae family Yucca Gloriosa can be found.

Clermont Garden Club members meet every third Wednesday of the month (September through May) at the clubhouse located at 849 West Avenue, Clermont, FL (except during scheduled field trips or luncheons). Meetings begin by 10:00 am, and light refreshments are served beforehand. New members and guests are warmly welcome.

Clermont Garden Club is a 501 c3 nonprofit organization.
