Montverde Academy students truly have a heart for service, and they continue to shine with every project. Below are a few recent events or projects where they dedicated their time and energy to help make the world a better place.

West Orange Junior Service League

MVA Upper School students volunteered at the West Orange Junior Service League Spooky 5K held at Oakland Park. MVA Volunteers partnered with Eight Waves, a local nonprofit that provides resources for families in East Winter Garden, and helped at the children’s craft table, directed racers along route, and cheered them on as they rang by. One of our MVA families participated in the race. Zoe and Parker Zi, 7th grade siblings, said that it was fun to run the race as a family. Parker was happy to say that he crossed the finish line before his dad.

Adopt-a-Roadway Service Project

Upper School students volunteered to pick up trash along Rt 455. Montverde Academy has adopted 2.1 miles of roadway, and as part of the commitment, the roadway must be cleaned quarterly. Neighbors waved and honked their horns to say thanks for taking care of the neighborhood.

Water and First Aid Station at Sommer Sports Great Foundation Triathlon

The Upper School Varsity and JV baseball teams hosted a water station and first aid station during a Sommer Sports Great Floridian Triathlon. “Everyone from Montverde Academy did a tremendous job of taking care of the athletes at the aid stations,” said July Lawler, the Sommer Sports Volunteer Coordinator. “I heard many compliments from participants about how [MVA students] helped them and cheered them on. Several cyclists mentioned all the enthusiasm they felt at [MVA’s} water stop. We appreciate all of your help and support.” The MVA volunteers were also praised for cleaning up and breaking down the water stop perfectly. Our race coordinators were very impressed.
