On Saturday, February 3, Montverde Academy hosted the 20th Annual Roger Ross Montverde Academic Tournament. Twelve teams from seven different high schools competed against each other in head-to-head competition throughout five preliminary rounds.
By correctly answering a sudden death, tiebreaker final question against Vanguard High School, the MVA Varsity Academic Team, Juniors Ali Cheema, Vaasu Gadiparthi, Alexa Foxx, and team captain Laven Parker, took home the winning title! In addition to winning the tournament, Laven Parker took home the honored spot of Top Individual Scorer out of 52 players.
Congratulations to the team, as well as coaches Mrs. Kristine Walsworth and Dr. Michelle-Taylor Sherwin. We also extend a big “Thank you!” to all MVA faculty who volunteered as scorekeepers and readers to make this event possible. Congratulations, MVA Varsity Academic Team, and Go Eagles!
