Clermont Planning and Zoning gave its stamp of approval on a new Marriott TownePlace Suites, to be built on a 4.07-acre site located about ¾ mile east of U.S. 27 at Omar Street and Hwy 50.

The proposed development features a four-story hotel with 112 rooms. The hotel will have a pool and an outdoor tiki bar area, providing guests with a relaxing and enjoyable experience. A 294-seat sit-down restaurant will also be constructed for both guests and local residents.

There is a law office currently on the site that will be demolished to make way for the project.

The Clermont City Council will deliberate on the proposed development on Jan. 24.
