The Clermont Garden Club’s Yard of the Month for March 2024 is the home of Arlen and Bruce, who have resided at 14728 Green Valley Blvd, Clermont since October 2021. Located on the scenic Green Valley Country Club, their yard had been empty of any fauna or foliage. However, the yard now boasts gorgeous Elephant Ears Plants (Taro Colocasia), suitably named due to its similarity to the large size and veins of the ears of elephants. The bonus of these plants is that they are in flower! In the yard, chairs are situated in the shade of several Elephant Ears Plants. Bird of Paradise Strelitziaceae plants are in bloom, as well as an Angel Trumpet Brugmansia. Amongst the trees growing are Silver Bismarck Palm Bismarckia and a Manila Palm Adonidia merrilli. A weeping bottlebrush Myrtaceae flowered just last week. Smaller plants around the yard include a small blushing philodendron plant Philodendron erubescens, and a fantastic ground cover of Wandering Jew (Tradescantia zebrina).

Clermont Garden Club members meet every third Wednesday of the month (September through May) at the clubhouse located at 849 West Avenue, Clermont, FL (except during scheduled field trips or luncheons). Meetings begin by 10:00 A.M, and light refreshments are served beforehand. New members and guests are warmly welcome. Clermont Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
