The Central Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is proud to announce the upcoming Golden Eagle Dinner, an esteemed annual fundraising event that brings together Lake County’s foremost corporate and community leaders alongside local philanthropists. This year they will honor Dr. Wade Winker, a retired dentist in Eustis. Their Corporate Honoree is United Southern Bank. The event will be held on March 26, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Mission Inn Resort.

The Golden Eagle Dinner serves as a platform for recognizing outstanding community leaders and their remarkable achievements to our community. Attendees can anticipate an inspiring and celebratory gathering that underscores the importance of supporting the values and initiatives championed by the BSA. All generated proceeds from the event contribute to the support and advancement.

Dr. Winker, a respected figure in the field of dentistry, dedicated nearly three decades to serving the community of Eustis as a dentist, from 1993 to 2022. A graduate of the Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1987, he honed his skills as a dentist as he served in the U.S. Navy.

Dr. Winker’s commitment to excellence and leadership qualities earned him recognition from prestigious organizations such as the American Dental Association and the Florida Dental Association. Notably, he was honored as the FDA Dentist of the Year in 2005 and was appointed to the Florida Board of Dentistry by Governor Crist in 2007, a position he continued to hold under Governor Scott, eventually serving as chairman in 2011.

Since its inception in 1937 as Umatilla State Bank, United Southern Bank (USB) has been deeply rooted in serving the needs of the Umatilla community and citrus growers. In response to the authorization of branch banking in the late ’70s, USB expanded its services to neighboring Lake County communities, culminating in a rebranding to United Southern Bank in 1987. Today, with 12 offices strategically located in Lake and Sumter Counties, United Southern Bank remains committed to fostering enduring relationships with its customers and actively engaging in community initiatives.

United Southern Bank continues to prioritize community connection and engagement. Their steadfast commitment to volunteerism, charitable endeavors, and event sponsorships underscores their recognition of the importance of giving back to the communities they serve. As a trusted pillar in the regions it operates, United Southern Bank understands the significance of their role in enhancing the well-being of the communities it calls home.
