Gretchen Elizabeth (Heinrich) Nolen, 53, of Clermont, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Clermont, FL to the late Dr. Werner and Martha “Marty” (Taylor) Heinrich. She graduated from Clermont High School in 1988 and was a lifelong resident of Clermont.
Gretchen was a cancer SURVIVOR, but she was so much more than that. She fought late-stage cancer twice in her life and won. It didn’t beat her the third time, either, because she didn’t really lose that battle. She WON. She won a spot in Heaven for being who she was: a devoted wife who treated her husband like her best friend; a loving and faithful daughter who took care of her parents full time for the last two years of their lives; a mother whose love knew no bounds, who gave it all to her precious daughter; an absolutely adored little sister to her siblings, who were also her best friends; an exceptional aunt, a Tete, to all of her nieces and nephews (and great- nieces and nephews) who worshipped her; a loyal and dedicated friend to a multitude of people, many of whom have been her friends since childhood; a coworker who was treasured by those who worked alongside her and remained lifelong friends. This is who she was. She loved to laugh, travel, sing, dance, and help others. She lifted people up. She cherished her dogs.
She loved the beach and the mountains and was always up for an adventure. Her smile, positivity and constant encouragement will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Just last week, Gretchen said “If there is anything to fight, I will fight, but if God says it’s my time, then I will accept it.” Sadly, this was her time. Rest well, our sweet angel; you fought the good fight and now it is time for your reward. Your family and friends could not have loved you more.
