On Thursday, April 18, Valor Lakes celebrated the opening of its new service organization by hosting a business after-hours for the community.  The South Lake Chamber of Commerce officiated at the ribbon cutting of the 9,000-square-foot building, which was once the Hope Center. The building has a brand-new look and feel with a fresh modern, and inviting atmosphere.

Valor Lakes, located at 12629 South US-27, Clermont, provides services to the general public as well as U.S. Veterans seeking specific programs designed for those with substance abuse and mental health issues. Valor Lakes offers outpatient treatments that include individual and group therapy sessions, addiction education, relapse prevention planning, and support groups for veterans and their family members. Other related programs offered include case and medication management, life skills development, family therapy, and social skills development.

As an example of Valor Lakes’ commitment to substance abuse recovery, the center will begin offering EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) treatments this month. Initially designed to treat trauma, EMDR has proven effective in addressing the deep-seated emotional issues often intertwined with substance abuse and alcohol addiction. Alcohol-related issues are among the leading preventable causes of death in the United States, with over 178,000 lives lost annually and more than 200 health conditions linked to alcohol misuse.
