May/June 2024

Hello Clermont Champions!

School is out, the temperature continues to rise, and we have reached our busy Clermont summertime activities!

I was honored to participate in Clermont’s Memorial Day events at Waterfront Park. The memories relived, the remembrances shared, and the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall helped remind us just how important it is to never forget our American Veterans who died protecting our freedoms.

We are just around the corner from our third Juneteenth Celebration. A huge thanks to the South Lake Lincoln Park Alliance and our wonderful sponsors for making this historic event better each year. Be sure to come out on Saturday, June 15, beginning at 5 p.m.

Clermont will again celebrate July 4 with Red, White & Boom! Activities will be held at Waterfront Park and will begin at 5 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m. to wrap up a day of patriotic celebration.

The 2024 Hurricane Season is underway, and the weather experts are predicting a very busy season. We have enhanced the storm resources on our website, and I encourage you to visit www.ClermontFl.gov for information on how to get storm-ready now—not after a storm has developed! Our friends in other parts of Florida know all too well that it only takes one!

We welcomed Tod Howard to fill the remaining term of City Council Seat 2 and the results of the Special Election were accepted into the official record during the May 28 City Council meeting. Thank you to the more than 3,200 residents who exercised their right to vote.

We will continue “Lunch with the Mayor” for the summer, and I encourage you to join us on the first Tuesday of each month at different Clermont restaurants. You have to pay for your lunch, but I provide updates on City events, activities, and services and answer your questions.

On June 4, we enjoyed good conversation and tasty food at KeKe’s Breakfast Café. On Tuesday, July 2, we will gather at Guru Indian Restaurant, 2400 S. Highway 27, followed by Cracker Barrel, 1520 E. Highway 50 on August 6.

The Splash Park at Waterfront Park is open every day, and the Arts & Recreation Center pool offers swim lessons and open swim times to help keep cool. For more information on any of these events, visit www.ClermontFl.gov.

I continue to feel blessed for the opportunity to serve as your Mayor. If you have questions or concerns, you can always reach me at tmurry@ClermontFl.org.

Until next time,

Mayor Tim Murry
