Pastfinders of South Lake County Genealogical Society

Pastfinders of South Lake County Genealogical Society is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to assisting individuals in discovering their family history through education, preservation, and research assistance.

Throughout the year, we offer educational programs through virtual, in-person, and hybrid formats, But have you ever wondered what Pastfinders does beyond providing educational programs to the community? Pastfinders takes care of a room at the Cooper Memorial Library in Clermont.

Our materials are available for genealogical research, with over two thousand books covering topics ranging from how to, to different places around the world. Computers offer access to research websites such as Ancestry.com.  Local newspapers on microfilm are stored in the room and will soon be available in digital format.

Our responsibility is to organize and preserve items that have been donated to the library that are both genealogical and historical to our community and surrounding areas. Wouldn’t it be interesting to hear about the preservation and digitization project we’re working on with the Lake County Library System?

To acquire knowledge about our approach to cataloging and digitizing local history for future researchers.  Demonstrations will be held in the Genealogy Room at Cooper Memorial Library on Wednesdays from 10 am to noon in June, so make sure to stop by.
