June 2024

Hello Clermont Champions and Happy Summer!

We recently celebrated our third Juneteenth event and it keeps getting better and better! Much of that success is due to our partnership with the South Lake Lincoln Park Alliance and our sponsors including Kroger, McCoy Federal Credit Union and the Montgomery Center for Excellence, Florida Sports Injury and Orthopedic Institute, Janney Roofing, Orlando Health – South Lake Hospital, Oviedo-Clermont Roofing, Lojo Family McDonalds and Insight Credit Union. Thank you all for helping us make community events like these possible.

Our celebration of freedom continues with our annual Red, White & Boom! at Waterfront Park on Thursday, July 4. Activities will kick off at 5 pm with fireworks scheduled to light up the sky at 9:15 pm. There will be festive food, refreshing drinks, live music and lots of red, white and blue!

In addition to downtown options, parking will be available at Aurelia Cole Academy on Pitt Street and free shuttle rides will be offered to Waterfront Park from the Arts & Recreation Center (ARC), Palatlakaha Park, Lake Hiawatha Preserve, and West Park beginning at 4:30 p.m. The shuttles leaving from the ARC will provide ADA accommodations and the last shuttle will leave Waterfront Park at 10:30 pm.

Clermont’s website, www.ClermontFL.gov,has some new additions that offer very useful information that is easy to find. If you visit the homepage, look at the top of the page and select the “How Do I” button for a direct link to pages that will answer frequently asked questions like what is being built or opening soon in Clermont and who is responsible for repairing roads in and around Clermont?

Consider yourself invited to “Lunch with the Mayor” on the first Tuesday of each month at different Clermont restaurants. You have to pay for your lunch, but I provide updates on City events, activities, and services and answer your questions. On July 2, we will gather at Guru Indian Restaurant, 2400 S. Highway 27, and on August 6 at Miller’s Ale House, 1555 S. Grand Highway.

I continue to feel blessed and thankful for the opportunity to serve as your Mayor. If you have questions or concerns, you can always reach me at tmurry@ClermontFl.org.

Until next time,

Mayor Tim Murry
