BY Coach Bradley Lord, SOUTH LAKE HIGH SCHOOL EAGLES
The Eagles look to improve on their 2-win 2023 campaign under second-year coach Brad Lord. The Eagles have worked very hard in the off-season which started with an 8-day college bus tour at the beginning of the summer.
South Lake Eagles has added much-needed coaches to its 2024 staff. These coaches have put in the work with the Eagle athletes in the weight room, during agility training, and during the Florida High School 7 on 7 tournaments. The goal is for the Eagles to compete for the 2024 district title. “ We have gotten bigger, stronger, and faster and our football IQ’s have increased. If we tackle, block, execute, and take care of the ball we will be a formidable opponent,” states Coach Lord. South Lake High School is in a district with Lake Minneola, Horizon, Davenport, and Ocala Forest.
Below are the Eagle’s returning starters on both sides of the ball. Marcel Walker led all 4S last season in kickoff returns averaging over 50 yards a return. Tre Kelly as Freshman QB threw for 660 yards and 4 TDS and rushed for 294 yards and 4 rushing TDS. Kelly only threw 2 interceptions in 10 games. Look for Jesse Barker Jr, Johens Misere, Kaden Magloire, Malik Holman, and Rome Mckinnond to lead an experienced Eagle Defense.
