For over six decades, Wesley Christian Academy (WCA) has been a cornerstone in the central Florida community, offering a nurturing and supportive environment for preschoolers. In 2016, recognizing the need for a Christ-centered education extending beyond preschool, a dedicated group of parents and church members initiated the formation of WCA Elementary School. Their vision was to expand the academy’s offerings by adding a grade level each year, ultimately serving students from PreK through 5th grade.

By the 2020-2021 school year, student enrollment had grown significantly, from 73 to 95 students. Fast forward to 2024, WCA, located at 832 7th Street in Downtown Clermont, celebrated a major milestone with the opening of a new 26,000-square-foot building. The celebration was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, officiated by the South Lake Chamber of Commerce and heralding the new chapter for the academy. The K-8 grade Christian Academy now boasts 20 classrooms, ready to welcome staff and students for the upcoming school year.

The Academy’s growth and success can be attributed to the steadfast leadership of Principal Robert McCue, a lifelong resident of Clermont. McCue is a proud alumnus of Clermont High School, known as the Highlanders, and he brings a wealth of experience to his role, having previously served as the principal of Clermont Junior High School – the very campus from which he graduated years earlier.

Under Principal McCue’s guidance, Wesley Christian Academy continues to provide a Christ-centered education, fostering the academic, spiritual, and emotional growth of its students. The new building stands as a testament to the academy’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to serving the south Lake community for many more years to come.
