Montverde Academy’s athletics department has added another achievement to its history. Recently, the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Executive Director, Craig Damon, visited the Montverde Academy (MVA) campus to present the school with the prestigious Floyd E. Lay Sunshine Cup. This award recognizes MVA as the most successful athletics department in the state of Florida for the 3A classification during the 2023-24 academic year.
The Floyd E. Lay Sunshine Cup is awarded annually to the top high school athletic programs in Florida, considering overall excellence across all sports. Montverde Academy’s receipt of this award underscores its commitment to excellence in athletics, as the school consistently demonstrates outstanding performance across multiple sports disciplines.
MVA’s baseball program has contributed to the school’s success in securing the Sunshine Cup. The team’s dedication, skill, and teamwork have brought pride to the Montverde community and set a high standard for high school sports in Florida.
