Season Record- 2-2 1-0 District
Game Summary: Davenport got off to a quick start with a 65-yard TD reception in the first quarter. At the end of the first quarter, the Eagle running game got going and scored 28 unanswered points giving South Lake its first district win of the season. Malik Holman scored on a burst up the middle midway through the second quarter making it 7-7 at the half (Holman would have three touchdowns on the night).
The Eagle Offense kept rolling with great runs from Tre Kelly, Kaden Magloire, Marcel Walker, and Holman in the second half. Jr Misere, Connor Plummer, Christian Taylor, Dylan Prinzel, Isaiah Desir, Alex Vila, and Blayton Rush all had strong games blocking to open up the running lanes. In the third quarter, Walker would plunge into the end zone and Chris McKenna would add the extra point making the score 14-6. The Eagle defense kept the Davenport offense at bay with some tremendous individual efforts. Tyger Darden had an interception and Jesse Barker, Jr Misere, Anthony Johnson, Murphy Connelly, and Quoy Nelson lived in the opponent’s backfield constantly applying pressure to the quarterback.
Late in the third Holman would again find the endzone. A missed extra point kept the game close ending the third quarter 20-7. Tyger Darden would intercept a pass early in the fourth quarter and Kelly would hook up with Keydrick Powell on a crucial first down. The next play Holman would take it to the house 59 yards for the touchdown. Holman would also walk into the end zone for the two-point conversion sealing the victory,
“Davenport had a ton of athletes and was a very dangerous team. We cleaned up mistakes that we made vs The Villages and won the turnover game and had fewer penalties. We need to have a great week in practice as we play a very talented Mount Dora Team next week.”
