Montverde Academy is proud to announce that girls swim team member Alejandra Ordonez has been named the Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 8th. This recognition comes in light of her outstanding performance at the Lake Highland Prep meet on September 7th, where she returned excellent results.

Ordonez delivered a stellar performance in winning all four races she competed in. Her achievements include:

  • 100 Yard Freestyle: Ordonez clinched first place out of 16 swimmers with a time of 53.61 seconds.
  • 200 Yard Freestyle: She secured the top spot among 17 competitors with a time of 1:57.77.
  • 200 Yard Medley Relay: As part of the relay team, she helped secure a first place finish out of 16 teams with a time of 1:51.26.
  • 200 Yard Free Relay: Ordonez contributed to another victory, with her relay team finishing first out of 17 teams with a time of 1:41.37.

A freshman in the upper school, Ordonez has been a member of the swim team for the past three years, dating back to when she was in the sixth grade. Last season, as an eighth grader, she earned four first-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle, including wins at the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) district and regional meets. She finished a hard-fought sixth at the state championship in a personal best time of 52.09 seconds. Ordonez also earned two wins at the 200-yard freestyle, including the district championship.

In addition to Montverde Academy, Ordonez also swims for a team in Colombia. Her career ambition is to work in a field where she can help children

Ordonez and the rest of the Montverde Academy girls’ swim team were back in action on Saturday, September 14 for a home meet against Berkeley Prep.
