South Lake High School defeated Horizon High School on Monday night 20-8. With the victory, the Eagles have secured a spot to play for the district championship vs Lake Minneola on Friday, October 25th at 7 pm at Eagle Stadium.

The Eagles improved their record in the district to 3-0 and 4-3 overall. Marcel Walker, Malik Holman, Tre Kelly, Keydrick Powell, along with the whole offensive line had outstanding games. The Defense led by Jesse Barker, Johens Misere, Anthony Johnson,  Murphy Connelly, Quoy Nelson, and Tyger Darden shut down the Horizon offense for most of the night. The Eagles have a quick turnaround this week due to Hurricane Milton as they play at rival East Ridge High School in a non-district game this Friday 10/18 at pm.

“We talked about the adversity we have to handle this week as a team last week when our games were canceled. We took step one Monday Night. The team is working hard at taking care of the little things in school and on the football field and we are making progress. Our goal at the beginning of the season was to compete for the district championship. We are excited with the opportunity to play Lake Minneola a proven winning program over the years that has had deep playoff runs. We are excited about this challenge to compete with such a seasoned program”.
