Traditional foods eaten within dark and dank Scottish castles were on the agenda at Preceptor Kappa Delta’s (PKD) recent first meeting of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority year!
To highlight her program detailing multiple historic sites of Scotland, our Clermont chapter’s hostess, Patti French, a 50+ member of Beta Sigma Phi International sorority, served “porridge” (oatmeal) with a variety of toppings including cranberries, brown sugar, and walnuts, with various shortbreads for dessert. Typically worn by men, Patti donned a red, plaid clan-determining tam o’shanter, as she led us through the country’s castles and museums, ending with a discussion on Nessie, the ever-mystifying monster of Loch Ness.
PKD is one of twelve chapters in the Orlando Area Council. In addition to monthly meetings, PKD participates in service projects, keeping the proceeds close to home, and theme-based socials designed to coordinate with this year’s international theme, “The Right Place to Be.” Programs for this year, presented by a different member each month, center around various other countries, including Poland and Germany.
