Along with Upper School students at Montverde Academy, Mr. Ed Cordova’s eighth-grade leadership class is partnering with Advent Health on a heartwarming project inspired by The Invisible String by Patrice Karst. The students are creating bracelets for Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) patients and their families, symbolizing an unbreakable bond even when they are apart. The project aims to provide a sense of connection for both parents and children during difficult times.
Mr. Cordova shared the importance of this initiative: “The whole purpose of these bracelets is so that parents, when they’re not with their children in the NICU or PICU, still have a connection, something they can touch. We’re making bracelets for both the parents and the children.”
The students have embraced the project enthusiastically. “What I love most about this project is that we’re able to help little kids and their families connect even when they’re not together,” said eighth-grader Natalie Grausam.
An Advent Health volunteer, Cynthia Lewis praised the students’ involvement, noting, “It’s a project that’s been near to my heart. It’s called service — doing something for somebody else, selflessly helping someone in need. It has been a pleasure working with all the students!”
