The City of Clermont continued its holiday festivities schedule on Friday, December 6th in the historical downtown section of Clermont with the 35thannual Light-Up Clermont celebration. This year’s theme, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” included guest bands The Vocalites and Johnny Wild & the Delights.

The entertainment at City Hall Park was a hit with families, as children and adults alike sang along with the pop-style holiday music provided by both bands. Old-fashioned Christmas song classics, such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, brought children to the grassy dance floor, where they enjoyed acting out the song under the beautiful starlit night sky.

Mayor Tim Murry kicked off the countdown to the lighting of the giant Christmas tree that stands proudly on the decorated grounds of City Hall Park. The countdown did not disappoint as thousands of glistening lights came to life with the flick of a switch. The twinkling lights and sparkling ornaments of the majestic tree stand in unity with the beautifully lighted landscape throughout the downtown and Center Lake area.

Non-profit organizations continued decades-old traditions by providing fun for children with Santa and Mrs. Claus visits at the City Center and family-friendly holiday decorations adorning the shores of Center Lake. Businesses on West Montrose Street and the surrounding historical district opened doors to curious shoppers and hungry merrymakers alike.

The downtown fun will continue Friday, December 13th, from 6 PM- 9 PM with “Cookies and Cocoa.” This annual event is a collaboration between the City of Clermont and the downtown businesses. This holiday event offers an opportunity to explore the unique shops and savor sweet treats as you stroll through the beautiful downtown area. As you are exploring the cozy decorations, be sure to visit the City Hall Park located on West Montrose and Seventh Streets for a lively and entertaining performance that will add even more to your holiday experience.

Whether you are a resident or a visitor to the city, this event is a perfect chance to experience the community spirit that you will find throughout the historic downtown Clermont business district.
