For the Clermont Garden Club Yard of the Month for December 2024, we are at the home of Jason and America Lieffers of 1003 Scenic View Circle, Minneola, Fl.. This yard can only be described as exquisite, and one can see that it is well cared for and loved.

A tall Norfolk Island Pine [which incidentally is not a true pine (i.e., Pinaceae) but is a member of the genus Araucaria] can be found to the right of the property, while a beautiful Magnolia tree (Magnoliaceae) to the left. Central is a slightly unusual Cape Myrtle tree that shares white and lilac flowers. Around the trees are many species of plants…some in pots, which include Mottled Spurge (Euphorbia Lachea), Aloe vera, and a Candelabra Aloe (aloe carborescens, meaning treelike with orange flowers). Adjacent is a Ponytail Palm (beaucarnea recurvata). To the front is a fine specimen of Zarnia (genus of cycad of the family Zamiacea). Dating to the Jurassic era, it is a non-flowering plant that produces a pod with bright red seeds. It is certainly the Season to be Merry when you first see this delightful yard!
