CLERMONT – Three talented students from Imagine South Lake Charter School were recently recognized for their outstanding essays in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Patriots Pen contest. The competition, which invites middle school students to express their views on democracy, featured the theme “My Voice in Democracy” this year.

Martin Fontana earned 1st Place, with his essay also winning at the district level, advancing to the highly competitive state competition. Madelyn Fontana, took 2nd Place, while Kaolin Easley secured 3rd Place.

The Patriots Pen contest challenges students to reflect on the principles of democracy and the value of civic engagement. These young writers showcased remarkable creativity and insight, earning recognition from both the VFW and the local community.

Congratulations to Martin, Madelyn, and Kaolin for their exceptional work and for representing  Imagine South Lake Charter with pride! The South Lake community wishes Martin the best of luck as his essay moves forward to the state level.
