With a significant cold front moving into the area, the Lake County government will open a cold-weather shelter nightly from 5 pm to 7 am Monday through Friday (Jan. 6-10). The shelter is located at LifePointe Church (2551 East Orange Ave., Eustis).
 
Additionally, the Salvation Army will open a warming station to help residents stay warm outside of shelter hours. Located at 2605 South St. in Leesburg, the warming station will be open from 7:30 to 11:30 am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (Jan. 7-9).

Lake County residents can text COLD to 888-777 to receive text updates about cold weather shelters and other related alerts.
