South Fork Colorado Fire Rescue has stepped up to support communities in California during their time of need. A four-person crew aboard the department’s Type-6 wildland engine has been deployed to assist in battling the devastating fires currently impacting the state.  The crew is part of the initial attack team, which goes directly to fight a fire when a new fire starts or jumps the line.

Among the brave crew is Stephen Delaney, a former Clermont Highlander/ graduate of Clermont High School and current resident of South Fork, Colorado, along with team members Tyler Schmidt, Scott Hobbs, and Josh Brophy.

The deployment highlights the vital role that interagency cooperation plays in combating natural disasters. South Fork Fire Rescue’s contribution will help bolster efforts to protect lives, homes, and wildlife threatened by the blazes sweeping across California.

As South Fork Fire Rescue’s crew works tirelessly in extreme conditions, their courage serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility to aid those in crisis.

Updates on their efforts will be shared as they become available.

Thank you, South Fork Fire Rescue for your selflessness and dedication. Stay safe, team!
